Olfactory Art History (Multiple WPs)

Lizzie Marx is a History of Art PhD Candidate at Pembroke College, University of Cambridge, where she explores the visualisation of smell and its meanings in seventeenth-century Dutch art. She is also the Research and Exhibition Assistant of Fleeting – Scents in Colour (2021), an exhibition at the Mauritshuis, The Hague, on smell in seventeenth-century art. As part of Odeuropa, Lizzie will be working on WP2, identifying and analysing the visual traces of smell in artworks; and on WP6, developing the incorporation of the olfactory in museum collections.
